Norman and Hill Ltd. was founded in London on June 6, 1921 by British Army Colonel Disney, William Rounce and Posseen Hill. Years later, our company changed its name to Filofax.

The first personal organizer was created: a high-quality leather binder with ring mechanism and flexible loose-paper inserts - a “File of Facts” that would eventually give our company its name.

During World War II, our offices were destroyed. Key information about customers and suppliers was stored in the organizer that secretary Grace Scurr took home every night, enabling Filofax to keep operating.

The popularity of Filofax organizers grew enormously during the 1980's due to its association with the Yuppie culture, making our brand an iconic symbol of the decade.

Our product portfolio evolved from business planners to multiple tools to help achieve work life balance. Filofax started its international expansion, growing in Europe, North America and Asia.

Filofax celebrated its first century with the launch of the Centennial Collection, a limited-edition capsule specially designed to pay homage to our brand history with today’s user in mind.
